Nokia is rumored to launch its N900 Maemo handset next week at Nokia World. Once rumored to be a “tablet”, the device is really a handset, and runs on Maemo, a flavor of Linux for mobile devices backed by Nokia and Intel.
The interface looks sexy on this particular shot, but earlier reports mentioned that the overall feel is actually closer to Symbian handsets (like the N97). We’ll have to try it for ourselves… The photo published by BeGeek is a shot that will be used for marketing purposes and it certainly looks much better than the real-life shots that leaked on the web a few days ago.
FCC Reveals Nokia N97 Mini
Posted by: | Comments
The folks at the FCC have revealed that they are now peering into the upcoming Nokia N97 Mini, or at least that’s what the documents seem to point towards. While there isn’t any official confirmation that what you see here is the N97 Mini, it could also end up as another European device considering it comes with quad-band GSM and 1900MHz 3G connectivity. Still, the filing does not look complete at press time, leaving room for speculation. Surely it wouldn’t hurt the N97 Mini’s case to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth onboard, right?
Nokia Rover Spotted Yet Again

Nokia’s upcoming Internet tablet, also known as the RX51 or Rover is more than ready to be announced a fortnight from now in Germany, but that has not stopped impatient ninjas from fumbling with their digital camera while they attempt to capture a live image of the Rover during one of their espionage exercises. What do you think of the Rover’s chances of success in this day and age?
Fearless Retailer Leaks Pics of Unreleased Nokia Phones
Posted by: | Comments
An unidentified retailer has leaked a series of photos that reveal a number of unreleased Nokia phones, including the N97 Mini, N5800 with chrome edging (possibly the 5900), E72, E55, and two unknown sliders that may be an N86.
Like we said in the lead we don’t know where the retailer is based, how they got the phones, or how they were able to arrange them neatly on a desk and snap their picture without anyone finding out.
The Nokia Blog isn’t saying, although they did hint the retailer explained these phones were all due to be sold in their store “soon.”

We didn’t expect too many fireworks from Microsoft and Nokia’s joint teleconference this morning, and, well, we didn’t get any. As expected, Office Mobile is coming to Symbian, along with Office Communicator Mobile, SharePoint, and Microsoft System Center, and the two companies also said they’ll be working on “future user experiences” for Nokia customers. Don’t get too worked up about that, though — Nokia said it was “deeply committed to Symbian,” and that “there are no such plans” to work on a Windows Mobile device. So much for that. We did ask whether this partnership would affect Nokia’s rumored Maemo plans, and we were told that development is Symbian-focused for now, but that there might be “other business opportunities” in the future, so at least that door remains open a hair — but for the most part this is all about Microsoft and Nokia trying to stake out a stronger enterprise position, not anything else

Nokia RX-51 Tablet Captured

Not long at all after that mysterious Nokia RX-51 passed through the FCC comes shots from Indonesian message board Kaskus of the tablet-like device in the wild. The blurred box shot and the label behind the battery clearly say RX-51 prototype, and the design is unmistakably similar to the rumored press photo for the Maemo 5-powered Rover from back in May. We can’t help but notice the 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens and, more importantly, SIM card slot and an ear piece, which would be perfect for placing calls on, say, T-Mobile’s network. Few more shots after the break.
