| I bought this for my wife and it works great so far. So great, I am actually considering ordering a second one for my vehicle. I recently used it on a trip from Huntsville, AL to Cincinnati, OH to listen to Pandora on my iPhone 3GS and I had no issues with connection or interference. Sound quality, though not outstanding, was better than I expected from an FM modulator. The Bluetooth speakerphone worked great also once I installed the microphone near the driver's side visor. When located on the dash or farther away voice quality is not great. It would be nice if it had a power out option to power the phone with but it is really not a big deal. I did a great deal of research before purchasing and overall I am happy we chose this model. Also, delivery was on time and as promised. Overall this is a great product I would definitely recommend to others. |
This Awesome because of the remote when the phone rings!!!

| Ok people, here is the deal. If you are not a very "technical" or "techni" kind of person, then this is not for you. But, those who are, and very smart. Then this is for you. Don't expect people when you buy gadgets that everything is "plug and play" in the natural world, cause your just dreaming. When i got this product my phone rang in the car speakers and used the "remote control" and didnt have to find the button on the product or the cell phone. Just press the remote button the remote control and there's the call. Plus, let me know give you a hint, make sure you pre-set your station on your car to the frequency of the Soundfly so that you can get it to really fast. The reason i like it, is this people you can keep your hand on the remote to change the songs on your cell phone on your remote control, its truly cool. Plus, the customer service is awesome and they are very polite. They will give you step by step instruction. I need to add one thing to people who buy new gadgets, please read the instruction before you comment on a product, especially when you don't know nothing about how technology, just admit that your a dinosaurs and still living in the dark ages. I recommend this product. Make sure that you balance your volume on your Soundfly to coincide with your volume on your car speakers so that the balance of the music comes easily. I didn't recommend 5 of 5 is because nothing is perfect and so is technology and we will never close to being perfect in technology, that's because we got along way, but this will come close that and it work very well compared to all the other that read the review. Nothing will come close to this product I'm sure you will be happy, its really impressive and so is the remote control. By the way, it works great with the Nokia 6750 mural. |
Great product

| I love this little product. I've had a few other fm transmitters in the past and the sound quality was always very poor. When driving in urban areas I'd always be fumbling with the channel to get one that came in OK. Not so with this... I haven't changed the station since buying it and the sound quality is superb... stereo and sounds like a high quality radio station or CD. I also like the flexibility to add a memory stick and play music off. |
Good product but needs some improvements

I used the Soundfly BT for about a month now, and here's my review.
pros - plays from SD card, remote control is easy to use, good FM sound quality
cons - no builtin speaker, no builtin rechargeable battery, I don't like the wired mic, it should have a builtin mic

Now that my phone is also my MP3 player and I needed a hands-free device for the car, Soundfly seemed to fit the bill.
First the reasons to spend $69. My phone is the Blackberry Storm V1
- Good quality sound via FM radio (no worse than any rock station)
- Acts as a speakerphone and uses a separate microphone that fits on visor. Everyone says quality is better than my phone used as a speaker phone.
- Plays stereo music from my phone's MP3 player.
- Plays mp3 from SDHC cards - playlists=folders, also from USB thumb drives but I've not tried this.
- Remote control is very convenient for volume, song change/pause, frequency change
- Cable for connecting a separate player to device
- When a call comes in, it automatically pauses your music from Bluetooth or from SDHC card.
Tech Issues
- It doesn't pause or blankout the sound for wired players when a call comes in. You must pause yor disconnect your player before you can hear the call.
- Pause button pauses my storms player, but won't resume play. I have to do that manually. Resume works with the SDHC card.
The real issue is the FM issue, which has various issues, but not particular to this device, but a decision point none-the-less.
--The FM frequency you use, must be unused by any nearby stations. This is a problem when driving long distances when you come into range of a station, you have to then search for another blank frequency and reset Soundfly to the new frequency...all at 60 mph. I've found it's best to find a frequency that has no stations above or below as well for the best sound. Also...very low end of the FM frequency range is not as good.
--If you do want to listen to the radio but still use Soundfly, you need to set a Preset button to the frequency you're using so you can quickly switch when your phone rings.
Other
--Forget the manual, it seems like it's gone through multiple translations by first year language students to finally deliver the English version. You just have to feel your way. Apparently there is a way to store frequencies to switch to. I haven't figure out how to store or switch to a stored frequency. I use the remote to move up or down .1 by .1 |

My commute to work is 32 miles and about 45 minutes. I really enjoy good music to and from work. The musice helps to set an energetic mood on the way in to the office and unwind on the way home. Unfortunately radio is not an option. In the area I live I lose stations about every mile. Besides, radio is about 60% commercials and jabber these days anyway. I really wanted a way to easily get the music from my iPhone to the car speakers. I've always resisted buying products in the past because I really don't like cords at all. I am a "get in and go" kind of guy and I don't like clutter. I'd also heard regularly that FM transmission devices have very poor quality sound.
The Soundfly unit really seemed to be the perfect answer. It was too perfect as a matter of fact and I was suspicious, but I went ahead and ordered it. I am _very_ glad I did.
It was a little difficult to figure out how to get it sync'ed up. I watched all the videos on their site. Unfortunately the supplied instructions leave something to be desired and it wasn't quite as easy as the trained tech in the video made it look. I did figure it out though and it has proven well worth the trouble.
Once connected it is almost completely hassle free. I start the car with the Soundly already in place, start the tunes on my iPhone with a couple swishes of my finger, set the iPhone in the cup holder and I am cruising to my tunes. No hassle. No clutter. I have had a couple of different folks comment about how the unit sounded "so much better" than other units they had experience with.
I consider the phone feature to be an added bonus. All I was looking for was a way to play tunes. I actually avoid using the phone at all if I can, but when I do need to take a call the system works flawlessly. The caller is clear over the car speakers and everyone I ask says I am clear to them on the other end as well.
The one thing I would like to see changed is to have the supplied microphone for use with the phone feature be made wireless. Satechi is 99% of the way there with wireless, clutterless ease of use. They already have Bluetooth technology in the Soundfly to take advantage of, a wireless microphone just seems like a logical next step. They might also create a new revenue stream replacing all the microphones people left attached to themselves and lost walking away from their cars. :^)
As a heads up... my favorite way to use the Soundfly is to play Pandora across the it. This works super well except that when I get a call Pandora doesn't come back after the call like iTunes does. This is not the fault of the Soundfly as this happens to Pandora whenever there is an incoming call whether hooked to the Soundfly or not. |

I highly recommend this product. I use an iPhone 3GS and my car has no Aux jack or iPod hookup, just FM. I have used the Soundfly BT Ultimate daily for two weeks.
Pros:
*Sound - Excellent sound, better than my old FM tuner (Macally FM Cup) and my
wife's FM tuner (Griffin FM Roadtrip). As close to CD quality as you can get on FM
*Range - My signal over-rode my wife's FM tuner when following her in separate car (we use the same station)
*BT Connection - Turn Soundfly on and it connects to my iPhone in seconds
*Call Quality - I sound clear on caller's end and caller sounds clear on my end
*Size - Compact for the features, smaller than I expected
Cons:
*RDS - RDS only works with SD card or USB dongle, does not work when using BT. Not a deal breaker for me, but would have been nice to have. (It does show the numeric phone number if receiving a call, but thats it for the iPhone via BT)
*Remote - Have to have directly in front of device to use. Can't mount it to dash to change volume or answer calls. Again, not a deal breaker.
*Charge - DOES NOT charge iPhone through USB port while BT is being used. I didn't see this part when I purchased it, and probably the most disappointing.
Please note that the iPhone OS limits outside use of many features except play/pause, therefore the remote is not much use. I bought the Satechi SCR-31 car mount and just use the iPhone to control my music and dial-out phone calls. The Soundfly device needs to be used to answer the call to immediately go through the speakers. Being able to hear my streaming podcast, YouTube, Pandora, TomTom navigation, and phone calls (or anything with sound) through my speakers has made my commute a lot more bearable and now I can't live without it. This is an excellent product and I will definitely upgrade if they further improve the feature set for the iPhone 3GS in the future. |
Pretty good, but not for me

| I ended up returning this item just b/c I didn't like the limitations with it reading flash drives. The limitation I didn't like was the folder limitation of 20 folders. If you have more than 20 folders it just won't play files out of those other directories. I tend to keep my music organized by artist/album so there was no way this thing would fly for me in that case. May be a small deal to some however. I also didn't really care for the small 3 digit display but this was a minor thing. Turns out though, it will display the song title via FM broadcast and it will show on your radio, so that was pretty cool in my opinion. I didn't really utilize the bluetooth features so I can't speak on it, but does appear to be getting good reviews here. Sound quality I would give it a 6 out of 10 which can be expected being broadcast over FM. As mentioned in other reviews, the manual wasn't too helpful and the translation wasn't all that great in spots. The remote was layed out pretty well, and I, too, found that you had to have the remote directly in front of the device before it would respond. I would say the product was good, but does have some limitations which I covered here...but as I said, these may not be a big deal to others. |
not what it seems

The discription paints a nice picture BUT...... The manual is ambiguous. I am using an MP3 player with my W385 motorola along with the much anticipated handsfree device, the cell phone does not work unless you turn OFF the player, as oppossed to the discription that states the music will automatically pause upon receiving phone call. Because the manual does not elaborate on proceedure and what is what - I fiddled with this thing for hours and could not make it work as discribed. I finally made a call and the sound thru my car speakers was GOOD but the recieving party said my voice was coming from a tin can-even with the microphone close to my mouth. The quality of music from my MP3 to the car radio is so-so, which I suppose is true for most FM transmitters. The remote did NOTHING. I am assuming that if you have state of the art Radio and maybe a different music device and a fancy new I-phone it may work better. Again, this is where a better discription of item, proper manual information and best equipment to use would come in handy. I am returning this product. Great Idea, Need more info before you buy it.

Not for iphon users

I've used Soundfly BT for few days and had so many problems that I've stopped using it.
1. The Bluetooth connection with my iphone was lost between calls.
2. Moving from hearing music to get a call or to dialing one often result in losing the Bluetooth connection as well.
3. The only way to reestablish Bluetooth connection was to turn the Soundfly BT off and on again.
4. The streaming music quality via the FM transmitter was not good enough and the sound quality driven from the units' headphone jack was even worse.
Today I had installed fix hends free system in my car and put the Soundfly BT away.
I think that the promise delivered was false promise and although the idea was very good the compatibility with iphone is far of being established.
I will certainly not suggest any iphone holder to purchase this unit.
