I needed a better Video card to improve performance of My Dell Dimension E310 computer, did not look at description good enough, was a apg slot card and I needed a pci card, it is a good buy and I am going to keep it for use in the future on another computer.
Have not installed it in a computer yet but I am always pleased with PNY products.
am looking for a PCI card now. |

Not much to say - a very cheap but good video card for an old motherboard that uses an AGP slot card.
It just works perfect, just don't think it will run high end games at max settings. For everyday use it works great. |

| The PNY GeForce 256 graphics card installs well and runs well. I have found no compatibility problems with my other hardware. The printed quick installation instructions work reasonably well, but they could have mentioned that even more comprehensive installation instructions can be found on the accompanying CD. |

| My old CRT monitor (for Dell Dimension 4600C) started flickering too much and I wanted to replace the monitor. I realized later that the computer does not support widescreen resolutions and I did not want to replace perfectly working computer. I ordered this and upgrade went perfect. The low profile bracket was included and I did not shell out another $10 towards it. The upgrade was smooth and was over in 20 minutes. I had no intention to use graphics and just wanted to buy widescreen LCD monitor. |
Able to play Civilization IV

| I put this in an Optiplex GX260 with a 2.4 GHz P4 processor and 512 MB of RAM and it plays Civilization 4 reasonably well. I suspect that if I upgraded the RAM, it'd play about as well as a modern computer, as long as you didn't try to do anything else at the same time. |
Brings old PCs back to life!

I had an old (2004) Dell Optiplex GX270 that I used occasionally, running XP. I installed Windows 7, but the old GeForce 4 card was not up to Windows Aero. This new PNY card was just the (inexpensive) ticket to bring the graphics performance a bit closer to the present and Windows 7 had a driver for it. This card is probably more than I needed, but hey, the price was right!
It's nice that it has both DVI and VGA outputs (I used DVI) and it includes a dongle for compoent video output, not that I intend to use them. A DVI to VGA adapter is also included. I can see the appeal of the low-profile brackets to HTPC builders as well. For me, the use of a passive heatsink was a very strong plus as I like my systems silent.
No frills in the box - the CD has just drivers - but I just throw out the games usually included anyway! |

| My old GeForce MX 200 64MB Graphics Card would freeze video play during both streaming and normal movie files. With this new 256MB card, I haven't had a problem yet. Installation was easy and it kept my old Compaq 5410US from going to the scrap yard. Highly recommended for computers with the older AGP 4X slot. |

| I needed a half height AGP8x card for a SFF computer that I am using with my TV to watch TV shows and 'flix movies over the 'net. This card with a DVI to HDMI cable works perfectly. It installed easily, worked straight away and displays the full 1080p. I had to adjust the Windoze display DPI setting to get fonts large enough to read from 8 feet away. However, after that I was enjoying streaming TV and movies using an old computer with this card, the aforementioned cable and an audio mini-jack to RCA splitter cable. Streaming 1080p for $40, I am pleased. :) |
Good upgrade for older motherboard with AGP

| I wanted to upgrade my older computer to Windows 7. My system has an ECS P4M800Pro-M board with AGP slot, 2 gig.of 4200 ram, and a 3 gig Pentium 4 CPU. Windows 7 installed fine, but the graphics card was inadequate to run Windows 7 and enjoy all the graphics. This video card, while not a gaming card, will allow an older system with an AGP slot to upgrade to Windows 7 and enjoy its bells and whistles for non- gaming type use. Very pleased with the results. |
Just perfect to fix a faulty AGP video card on an old Gateway

When my Gateway minitower's hard drive crashed this week, I had to decide whether to just buy a replacement computer, or mess with trying to revive my old desktop to be serviceable once more. Although I've not had trouble with the hard drive before, the Nvidia GeForce2 MX-400 video card had a perpetual flicker problem, where the whole display would flicker off and on periodically. In the early years, that was a not-too-troublesome issue, but in the last year, the problem grew more frequent -- and unbearable.
After researching my choices on the Internet, I settled on buying this Nvidia GeForce 6200 because 1) it was very inexpensive, 2) it supposedly worked well with older AGP buses (I think my AGP bus is 4x; the card is 8x but is backwards compatible).
I got the card today, and set about replacing the video card which was surprisingly easy to do. Both removing the old card and inserting the new one was much easier than when I've had to mess with memory modules or other PCI cards which are notoriously hard to install. This Nvidia card slipped very easily in the AGP slot.
Upon booting up the computer, I used the supplied CD to install the video drivers, and after another reboot, the display worked perfectly! I was surprised at how easy this upgrade was, and perhaps if I had known it was going to be this easy, I would have replaced the faulty, original video card years ago. So far, that annoying flickering business with the old video card is no longer a problem. Hurray!
The LCD display seems to render text where the fonts appear slightly smaller than before -- that's not a complaint, just an observation. The displayed colors are very fine. Note: I'm not a gamer, and my computing needs on this old desktop are usually involve just some simple web browsing and email.
For what I needed -- a low-cost, easy-to-install, works-the-first-time video card replacement for an old computer having a 4X AGP bus -- this Nvidia 6200 video card was exactly what I was looking for. Recommended! |
